Angela and Sue attended the ‘Unlocking Human Potential’ Conference in Lausanne on 1st February this year, organised by the Inside Game Coaching Network. Attended by coaches from many different sporting backgrounds including basketball, football and ice hockey.
It was a great opportunity to listen to speakers from around the world including USA, Belgium and Canada. Each bringing their unique expertise and passion for coaching. Presentations and workshops explored how to unlock the potential of your players as well as your own potential as a coach. It was a great forum to listen, learn and reflect. We learned what is really important to children in sport, how to communicate with them and how to un-tap hidden talent.
The over-riding impression from the Conference was that the number one factor in keeping youngsters in sport is fun and the importance of interpersonal skills and not performance when coaching. As a club this has always been our mission and we were reassured that our ethos of netball being for all girls, at all levels, irrelevant of their motivation for being playing, is our key focus.

Angela et Sue ont participé à la conférence «Unlocking Human Potential» à Lausanne le 1er février dernier, organisée par le Inside Game Coaching Network. Assisté par des entraîneurs de différents milieux sportifs, y compris le basket-ball, le football et le hockey sur glace.
Ce fut une excellente occasion d’écouter des conférenciers du monde entier, y compris les États-Unis, la Belgique et le Canada. Chacun apportant son expertise unique et sa passion pour le coaching. Des présentations et des ateliers ont exploré comment libérer le potentiel de vos joueurs ainsi que votre propre potentiel en tant qu’entraîneur. C’était un excellent forum pour écouter, apprendre et réfléchir. Nous avons appris ce qui est vraiment important pour les enfants dans le sport, comment communiquer avec eux et comment déconnecter les talents cachés.
L’impression dominante de la Conférence était que le facteur numéro un pour garder les jeunes dans le sport est amusant et l’importance des compétences interpersonnelles et non de la performance en tant qu’entraîneur. En tant que club, cela a toujours été notre mission et nous avons été rassurés que notre philosophie du netball soit pour toutes les filles, à tous les niveaux, sans rapport avec leur motivation à jouer, est notre objectif principal.
