Match report 7th and 15th October / rapport de match 7 et 15 octobre

U15’s and U13’s Sunday October 15th

What a fantastic day for our AGNA U13’s in the 2nd Swiss Matchplay Series!!
Captained by Esmé, our first game against a combined Les Citrons Verts/GGNA team saw us quickly conceding goals to our opponents strong shooting combination. AGNA quickly realised that we needed to get back into the game to stand any chance of keeping up with our opponents. The girls rose to the challenge, began to work as a team and gain ground. We lost the match 9:16 but the scoreline reflects the girls ability to regroup in the face of adversity. The LCV umpire came over to congratulate our girls at the end of the game on their performance and game etiquette. A very proud moment for us!
Our 2nd game against Jura allowed the girls to settle into their positions more comfortably, the girls all worked well in their defensive positions, intercepting and turning the ball over often to feed back up to the attacking players. Special mention to two of our girls, first time out as an AGNA players, who proved themselves to be valuable assets to the club during their first match, showing flexibility switching positions later in the day.  Final score 15:0 to AGNA, this is just what the girls needed to boost their confidence.
After the lunch break we were faced with much stiffer competition against a very well drilled GGNA. The girls did an excellent job of holding them off. The formidable mid court partnership of Esmé and Sarah worked hard to get the ball to our shooting duo. Kudos to the shooting pair they emerged as an impressive combination who really did make mincemeat of the GGNA defenders. We went into the 2nd half 7:6 up and really determined to win. GGNA were worried, they had to fight tooth to get the upper hand. It was THE most exciting match I have ever witnessed our girls play, they had fire in their bellies and a competitiveness that has been lacking in the past. GGNA dug deep, rallied and went on to win the game 14:11. This game had  all of the elements that, as coaches, we are aiming for. Teamwork, positive attitudes, sportsmanship and a desire to win!! Just wonderful! Even though we lost the game the girls were not disappointed as they recognised what a fantastic match they had played!
We were on a roll and the girls were not going to give anything away to Meinier in our last match of the day.  The girls continued to work hard, and we tried out some different combinations and tactics which worked well. We won the game 20:0, a resounding victory.
In summary, we all enjoyed a fantastic, successful day of netball. Our girls were congratulated by many other umpires and coaches on their performance, they really should be proud of themselves, we are incredibly proud of them!!!

We had 3 of our girls playing in a combined U15 team with Les Citrons Vert and a GGNA player or two. The combined team were down in their first match against GGNA by 21:0 by halftime, but then the teams were mixed to make it more even and had a better 2nd half final score.  The second half score was 23:6

Our match vs Meinier  – Our players settled in the second game and got to know one another and ended first half with a 4:4 scoreline.  Following a change around of Meinier team at half time – they then took the lead with a final 12:5 score.

Our last match v Jura was super. Final score 18:9 to us.  Our girls worked really hard and were pleased with themselves as they improved
throughout the day.

Rosa was very comfortable as GK and make some good intercepts. Laetitia gained in shooting confidence and worked well with other players the final game. Catherine played a new positions GD and settled in well and worked on improving jumping and made some athletic leaps and interceptions.

Big thanks to GGNA who covered nearly all the umpiring, loaned Maisie & Jemima to play for us and mixed the teams after a 21:0 first half score and thank you to Ange for accompanying the girls on the day.

Friendly vs GGNA Saturday 7th October

This was an invitation “friendly” match for our players aged between 12-14.   There was a lot going on that day with National Squad training and extra coaching sessions elsewhere so it was great to have this extra opportunity to play.  Thank you to all involved in making it happen.  In the end we 5 AGNA Girls who combined with a team from Jura.  It was a full hour game and the combined team took the first 4 goals before losing the match overall.

This was followed by a second ‘scratch” game – our combined AGNA/Jura team were mixed with the 2 GGNA teams to play another 30 minutes of netball.

Miriam from Jura was Head Coach, and Kylie and Tom from GGNA gave training tips throughout to the our girls all of which seemed to have a positive influence, and they were like sponges soaking it all up.  The families/supporters were fantastic applauding all the teams whenever any of the girls did something extra special.   It really was a very happy and fun game.  Thank you to Bronwyn for umpiring and for accompanying our girls.

We really were made very welcome, it was a no pressure friendly were the girls were able to play for fun.  Our team were complimented as being a really lovely group and were given a big clap by all at the end.

Dimanche 15 octobre l’U15

Friendly vs GGNA Samedi 7 Octobre
